Vertigo due to Ménière's syndrome?

Recurrent episodes of vertigo and a sensation of ear fullness could indicate this inner ear disorder. At Clinicaudio, we can help you diagnose it and provide clear guidance.

What is Ménière's syndrome?

Ménière’s syndrome is an inner ear disorder caused by a buildup of fluid (endolymph) in the inner ear. It can cause episodes of spinning vertigo, ringing in the ears, a sensation of fullness in the ear, and fluctuating hearing loss. It usually appears between the ages of 30 and 50.

How does this vertigo manifest itself?

Vertigo episodes are often intense, with a sensation of spinning, nausea, and loss of balance, and can last from minutes to several hours. Between episodes, many people notice that their hearing is worse or that their ears feel full or blocked.

At Clinicaudio, we offer a free hearing and vestibular exam.

To identify possible signs of Ménière’s syndrome and thoroughly assess your symptoms.

Other related symptoms

In addition to vertigo, tinnitus (ringing), a sensation of pressure in the ear, and fluctuating hearing loss may also occur. Blurred vision and fatigue may also accompany this condition. As this is a complex disorder, a multidisciplinary approach is recommended.

Why does this happen?

The exact cause is unknown, but it’s believed to be due to imbalances in the fluid in the inner ear. Factors such as genetic predisposition, abnormal immune response, viral infections, allergies, or stress could contribute. The exact symptom varies from person to person.

How is it diagnosed?

Diagnosis includes a clinical examination, recorded periods of vertigo, an audiometer, vestibular testing, and symptom monitoring. In some cases, we suggest a medical referral to rule out other conditions.

At Clinicaudio, we take a comprehensive approach: auditory, vestibular, and lifestyle to understand your case.
